NORTH RIVER LODGE
Step into a circle of warmth and comfort at a riverfront traditional Algonquin portage site on the Ostabonique River. Ostabonique is a French corruption of the actual Anishnabe word "Notaboaning", which means "where you lick the spoon" This refers to a very large sugar bush that once existed on the lake and was the site for community gatherings in the summertime. Based on traditional family wigwam shelters, this building is a sphere of freedom and well being. Enjoy watching the stars from the comfort of a bed each evening and enjoy your journey around the historical waterways by kayak, canoe or motorboat. Located near Hunter's Point Settlement on Lake Kipawa, there is a lot of history to explore pre and post european contact and is where many members of the Wolf Lake First Nation Algonquin's lived year round until the 1960's.
If You are interested in a unique experiene in our heritage and culture, kayaking and fishing or just relaxing, North River Lodge is the place to be.
The Lodge can comfortably accommodate 6 persons. Teepee accommodations are also available riverside for those who wish to experiene life in the tradiotional wigwam.
