SOUND OF THE DRUM
Join in a weekend of traditional drum building and drumming on the Amable du Fond River near Algonquin Park. Here is your chance to learn how to build a hand drum in the heart of the wilderness. Enjoy the rhythm and sounds of the river while you experience the teachings and songs of the drum.
Location: Eau Claire Gorge, Amable du Fond River, near Kiosk, Ontario
Itinerary Day One: Arrive at Amable du Fond River. Guests will be welcomed by Lorraine Montreuil and will have a walking tour around the Eau Claire Gorge followed by camp set up. After lunch guests will participate in a guided introduction to drum materials and building. The introduction will conclude with an evening traditional feast and fireside drumming along the river.
Day Two: Morning riverside wilderness hike followed by a hearty pancake breakfast. Full day of drum building and teachings including the birth of your personal drum.
Cost: $495.00 CAN Includes 1 night waterfront camping accommodation (cabin can be arranged at an extra cost of $55.00 per person based on double occupancy, wilderness visits and local interpretation, drumming presentations and instruction, all natural materials for drum building, all meals and snacks.
